Use Your Words. Tell Your Stories.

Our big world is made up of small stories - let's share yours

I'm Laura, I’m the Creative Director and Founder of Digital Deconstructed. I specialise in storytelling and podcasting.

My multi-hyphenate career has wound a path through community events, fundraising, high-profile charity events including celebrity Balls & Galas & Golf Days, online marketing, community building, and content creation.

All that has brought me to specialise in telling stories, that engage, connect and bring people together.

What I've worked on

I’ve worked with household names, corporates, online communities, global organisations and local businesses.

Whatever the project, my approach is the same, what is the story that needs to be told here, and who needs to hear it?

Made by Google

Made by Google takes a ‘behind the scenes’ look at the Google Pixel products that people love. Whether it’s Pixel hardware, Gemini AI or new features in an Android release, this podcast is the place to find out about it first and in detail.

I’ve worked on this podcast since Season 2, recording online, editing, supplying artwork and animation, and helping with distribution. Recently I supported the team to take the podcast from audio only to a video format.

Making It... On YouTube

Making It... on YouTube is a podcast for Creators by Creators getting into the details of what it takes to make and grow a successful channel on YouTube.

With six episodes in the season we recorded 4 of these in person at YouTube Studios in London, with the remaining two recorded online with our global guests.

I supported the team with Creative Direction, taking their ideas for the podcast and helping structure episodes and features, bringing a podcasting eye to their valuable content.

I ran the recording in the studios, leading the team, as well as the online recording and then delivered editing, animation and distribution to get it out into the wild!

ABB Energy Pod

Recorded and delivered weekly over 6 months, this was an ambitious podcast project to bring topical, relevant content and thought leadership from top executives and distribute it regularly to lead the conversation.

Each week we created a short episode that covered what was happening right now in the energy sector, recorded by industry leaders, giving their valuable perspectives and shared as a podcast as well as on their social media for maximum reach.

We also recorded episodes at leading industry events during this time, with executives interviewing their peers to give wide-reaching insights.

Wealth Stories

Working with a wealth management company that specialises in tax and investment for US expats living in the UK, we needed a way to tell their stories without getting caught up in dry regulatory language.

Enter Wealth Stories, a lifestyle podcast focusing on the stories of those that have come from the US and chosen to make the UK their home. Why did they come? What has made them stay? What is strange in a country that on the face of it speaks the same language?

By focusing on the people who chose their firm, and their wider narratives, we created a podcast that both stands alone and is part of their community offer to their clients.

One of Us

What is it like to work in your business? This was the question we started with on One of Us. And we realised - who is better equiped to answer that question than your own employees!

In a series of short interviews with staff across the different business functions, and at all levels from junior to executive, we asked the same five questions of each interviewee, as well as opening up the conversation.

This gave this financial services company a short podcast series that they could use as part of their careers showcase when recruiting, as well as something that speaks to their corporate identity as part of their wider brand recognition work.

Door to the District

What goes on behind the doors of the Glasgow City Innovation District?

This podcast looks at Scotland’s rich tradition of scientific excellence and industrial collaboration; how organisations are investing, what teams are building, and how entrepreneurship and innovation in Glasgow are making a difference around the world, from space and advanced communications to FinTech, HealthTech and Quantum.

Each episode showcased interviews with industry leaders and academics who are working in the District towards an adaptable, accessible and sustainable future.

What does a Creative Director do for fun?

Create her own podcasts of course!

The Leighton Buzzard Local Podcast

Leighton Buzzard Local is my project which showcases the magical local community that exists in my town. I wanted to take that conversation outside of the social media follwing that I’d created, and so my very own podcast was born! Creating the podcast lead to me being featured on local radio as part of their roadshow when they visited my town.

Living the Small Business Life

I’m also a co-host on Living the Small Business Life. With my two co-hosts, both called Ben (!), we wanted to bring honest, transparent conversations into the light about what it really takes to run a small business in our modern turbulent times.

Let's talk about your project! Email me, I'm always open to having a coffee - virtually or in person - and a chat about the storytelling you want to bring to life. Take 'we should have a podcast' to 'let's tell a lasting story' by getting in touch.
